Democrat County Legislators got together last Wednesday to change their vote on hiring CB Smith, all at the direction of county Dem Boss Tom Wade. The week before, the Dem caucus had met and decided to hire CB by a 4-2 vote. Wade flipped out, ordered the Dem legislators to reverse the vote and, no job for CB.
But no job for anyone else, either, with Dem legislators apparently unable to agree on a selection for the minority office job. The hopeful would succeed the perennially unpopular Sue Steele, who saw the GOP win two of their three consecutive veto-proof majorities and got blown out in a legislative race last fall that Dems were expecting to win.
