Democrat Rensselaer County Legislators Peter Grimm and Flora Fasoldt tried Monday to get the Legislature to throw more money for "tourism" programs. Some observers say Grimm and Fasoldt supported raising the county bed tax from 3 percent to 4 percent. The idea got shot down by the Republican majority, so at least one new Democrat tax has been derailed.
