Why Will Wade Walk?

It was pretty clear from the beginning that Rich McNally told a bold-faced lie when he said he wasn't going to politicize the DA's office, but it looks like it's only taken him 5 weeks to cross the line into the realm of illegal behavior. Protecting a political ally from indictment on felony extortion is still a crime in these parts.

Almost everyone has heard the stories: desperate for cash, Tom Wade put assessments on county employees. We saw victim statements and publicly-available bookkeeping records that told the same story. So where's the indictment?

What kept Tom Wade from getting the indictment we all knew he had coming? Was it the insurmountable lack of talent in the recently purged DA's office, or was it one ethically-challenged Democrat looking out for another? We'll let you know as soon as we find out.
