Promises Made, Promises Broken

Didn't Democrats promise to make Troy government more open?

They did, which is why the gambit by Democrat Bill Dunne at last week's Council committee meeting was so stunning and puzzling. Dunne submitted a resolution asking for the Council to approve legislation relating to the hiring of Dem appointments in the Council. Only one problem – no names of the appointees were attached!

Why the secrecy, especially after so many pledges during the campaign about openness from Democrats?

Sadly, several women who faithfully served the city as employees of the City Council office were told two days before Christmas they would be losing their jobs. Something about spoils and victors, maybe. But in our view, firing a group of dedicated employees, women, nonetheless, just
two days before Christmas is definitely the wrong way to start things off.
