Fiscal crisisin' sure is hard – just ask the Paterson administration!
As the state is facing what he claims is the "worst" fiscal crisis since the Depression, the Democratic governor got caught red-handed buying an expensive - $21,000! – Persian rug for his digs at the governor's mansion.
The exclusive story Thursday by the Times Union nails Paterson for what is a stumbling and somewhat shocking inconsistency . Who thought it was a good idea for a governor asking for employee givebacks and forcing local aid and service cuts to grab a wicked expensive rug?
The Paterson team worked hard to make the rug story a disaster. The rug merchant donated $8,000 to the Spitzer-Paterson campaign of 2006. And after claiming the rug was needed because the Mansion is a "museum" belonging to the people, the Paterson press operation would not allow any photos of the rug. Just plain dumb.
