The Democratic primary in the 43rd Senatorial District is turning into a real fight. And nobody is observing borders or treaties in the fight.
A few months ago, Brian Premo was the only Democrat in the race in the 43rd. He was the hand-picked candidate of would-be Democratic Rensselaer County Boss Tom Wade, which may be Premo's trouble. Premo's opponent, Mike Russo of Saratoga, is holding a fundraiser next week.
That's not really extraordinary. What is extraordinary is that Russo is having the fundraiser right under the nose of the Premo-Wade team in Rensselaer and that three notable Albany County Democrats, County Executive Mike Breslin and Assembly members Jack McEneny and Bob Reilly, are sponsoring the event.
